| Band members to unveil a plaque at the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward | 30th May 2006 | |
|
At 11.30am on Tuesday 30th May, Astro, Earl, James and Robin will unveil a plaque at the Teenage Cancer Trust Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in recognition of funds they have raised for Teenage Cancer Trust. In 2005, UB40 performed twice in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust to help raise funds for the charity. They first appeared in April to a sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Teenage Cancer Trust's annual benefit week. They then entertained guests at the Frank Lampard Gala dinner in November. Teenage Cancer Trust's Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham was officially opened in June 2000. Funds raised by UB40 will go towards further funding TCT services in Birmingham including a future unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital and a new conservatory and activity area at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. Funds will also go towards an Activity Coordinator's post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. For further info about Teenage Cancer Trust visit www.teenagecancertrust.org |
